Lithuanian Airports Digital Platforms

A unified digital platform for Lithuanian Airports, covering the websites of Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga airports, a content management system, real-time flight information, customer self-service, digital service ordering, e-commerce, QR vouchers, e-invoices and dedicated areas for partners and security users. The solution integrates with FIDS and KIS flight information systems, Paysera, fast-track and business lounge access solutions, FVAS Navision, FTP and other systems, while migrating existing customer, order, invoice, voucher and content data. The result is a modern, multilingual airport information, services and communications ecosystem designed for passengers, partners and airport employees, with support for mobile devices and accessibility requirements.

The challenge

The task

Lithuanian Airports set out to substantially update the websites of Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga airports and bring them together into a consistent digital ecosystem for passengers and partners. The challenge was not only to create a new design and content management system, but also to retain and modernise a broad range of existing functions, including real-time flight information, service ordering, e-commerce, customer accounts, e-invoices, security and partner areas, news, forms, surveys and other day-to-day information.

A particularly complex part of the project was ensuring continuity of data and processes between the new websites and the airports’ existing systems, including FIDS and KIS flight information systems, Paysera, fast-track and business lounge access systems, FVAS Navision, FTP and other external solutions. Existing customer, order, voucher, privilege-card, invoice and website content data also had to be migrated so that users could continue using existing services without interruption after launch.

The solution needed to be fast, secure, multilingual, mobile-friendly and accessible to people with disabilities, easy to administer and capable of supporting high visitor volumes, while preserving the shared Lithuanian Airports identity and the specific characteristics of each airport. The project therefore involved creating not three simple information websites, but a unified platform for passenger information, digital services, e-commerce and airport communications.

The result

Lithuanian Airports Web and Digital Services Platforms

A unified digital solution was created for Lithuanian Airports, covering the websites of Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga airports, a shared content management system, passenger information services, registered-user areas and online ordering of digital services. The platform brings together real-time flight information, airport services, news, contacts, documents, corporate information, security and partner areas, and other content relevant to passengers and business customers. The solution allows users to order and pay for airport services online, manage a shopping basket, apply discount codes, generate QR vouchers for fast-track and business lounge services, track order statuses and use a personal customer account. An e-invoicing area was created for partners and customers, while security committees and airport users received restricted-access document and communications environments. A key part of the solution is its deep integration with the airports’ existing IT ecosystem: FIDS and KIS for real-time flight data, Paysera for payments, fast-track and business lounge access systems, FVAS Navision, FTP and other external services. The platform is multilingual, responsive, accessible and designed for decentralised administration, allowing Lithuanian Airports to manage the content and services of different airports within one technology ecosystem.

Project results

The project covered the full website modernisation lifecycle for Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga airports. The team analysed the existing situation and requirements, designed the functional and logical architecture, developed a unified design and usability concept, and created and deployed CMS modules and functional areas for passengers and partners. Integrations were implemented with FIDS and KIS flight information systems, Paysera, fast-track and business lounge access solutions, FVAS Navision/FTP and other external systems, and existing customer, order, voucher, invoice and content data was migrated. The project also included iterative testing, pilot operation, production deployment, employee training, documentation and three years of warranty and technical support. The project created more convenient digital channels for passengers, automated service-ordering processes and provided the Lithuanian Airports team with effective tools for managing content and services.
