SODRA Intranet
A modern digital workplace and internal communications environment that brings employees, information, everyday processes and collaboration tools together in one place. The platform provides centralised access to news, contacts, events, documents, surveys, ideas, public procurement, room booking and departmental spaces, while integrations with core organisational systems ensure seamless data exchange and convenient day-to-day use. The solution serves as a unified digital workplace for SODRA employees, helping them find information faster, communicate more effectively and strengthen collaboration across the organisation.
The challenge
The task
SODRA needed a unified internal communications and day-to-day work platform that would bring together information held across different systems and departments and give employees one convenient access point. The challenge was not simply to build an information intranet, but to integrate it with the organisation’s core IT infrastructure—including employee authentication and roles, contacts, calendars and publicly available information.
The solution had to support a large organisation with different departments and user groups. This required decentralised content management, differentiated access permissions, internal group spaces and a clear information structure. Employees also needed to do more than consume information: they had to be able to comment, react, submit ideas, participate in surveys and use shared organisational services.
Main features
News and internal communications
Organisational news, announcements, discussions, surveys and personalised information for different employee groups.
Work organisation tools
Document search, an events calendar, training registration, meeting-room booking and modules supporting everyday processes.
Employee ideas
A space for employees to submit ideas and suggestions for improving the organisation, comment on them, evaluate them and discuss them as a community.
Security and integrations
LDAP authentication, single sign-on (SSO), integrations with SODRA’s internal systems and flexible user-access administration.
Employee directory and organisational structure
A centralised employee directory with search by first name, surname, department and sub-department, showing the official organisational structure, contact details, workplace and other employee information.
Events and calendar
Creating and publishing organisation-wide and departmental events, with a calendar, archive, search and filtering by department, date and event type.
Room booking
Viewing the availability of meeting and conference rooms and making bookings, integrated with Microsoft Exchange and Outlook so reservations are synchronised with employee calendars.
Document library
Centralised publishing, grouping and storage of documents, document galleries, management of various file formats and permission-based access. The technical documentation identifies documents as a separate data domain.
Public procurement management
Registering public procurement information, attaching documents and links, managing deadlines, procurement methods, winners, contract values and statuses, and transferring data to sodra.lt.
Media reviews
An internal media updates feed with the ability to publish reviews and attach PDFs, images, videos or links to external sources.
Surveys and feedback
Creating and running internal surveys, collecting employee responses and storing and analysing results. Surveys are implemented as a separate data domain in the technical documentation.
Department and group spaces
Separate internal group environments—effectively intranets within the intranet—where departments or employee groups can independently manage their news, information and other enabled modules.
Centralised search
A unified search across intranet content, enabling employees to quickly find people, documents, news, events and other organisational information. The specification identifies search as a separate intranet module.
Usage and content analytics
Statistics on news views, comments, reactions and overall user traffic, supporting assessment of employee engagement and intranet usage. The technical documentation separately describes item and user-traffic statistics.
The result
SODRA Intranet: An Internal Communications Platform
A modular intranet platform was created for SODRA as the central environment for employee information, communications and collaboration. It brings together news, contacts, events, documents, public procurement, room booking, media reviews, surveys, ideas, search and analytics, while individual departments and groups can manage their own internal spaces and content. The platform integrates with Microsoft Active Directory, Forefront Identity Manager, Microsoft Exchange and sodra.lt, enabling consistent management of user data, roles, contacts, reservations and published information. The solution is more than an internal website: it is a unified digital workplace that helps employees find information faster, communicate more effectively and collaborate across the organisation.
Project results
The project delivered a new intranet information system for SODRA, covering the full implementation lifecycle—from requirements analysis and system design through development, integrations, testing, technical documentation and deployment. A modular content management system with specialised internal communications and day-to-day work modules was created, with integrations to Microsoft Active Directory, Forefront Identity Manager, Microsoft Exchange and sodra.lt. These integrations provide centralised management of users, roles and data. The system architecture, data structures, web services and technical documentation were prepared, and the final solution was readied for secure operation and future development within the organisation.
